The crew continued laying and smoothing the bands, and when they left all of the
bands were finished. Lately there have only been two guys. Maybe the others are
still having problems with the police!
When we were looking for houses in San Diego, the iron fence with the canyon view is one of the things that really attracted us to this house. Except for one thing. At the end of our lot there is a span of iron fence that is lower than the rest and was missing the brick wall beneath it. From the first day we saw it we thought it looked inconsistent. The reason for it is that the slope on the canyon at that point is less steep, and from there on there is no more wall along the back yards -- just the low fence above the ground. But would it have killed the builder to continue the wall just to the end of our lot? Today the guys extended the wall with matching blocks below the lowered segment of the iron fence. Besides looking better, we hope the barrier will also help to keep small animals such as gophers or mice from ambling in from the canyon.
