Day 10

Friday May 5
This morning nobody came until about 9 a.m. We thought maybe it would be a day off.

Grass! And more plants. And moving the trees. And a few more things... We noticed a new pipe coming up from the ground in the front yard and going into the side of the garage. The lighting wire had already been run, and the builder gave us a sprinkler control wire with enough conductors, so we could not guess what this new wire might be for. Around in the garage we saw that it was indeed a new sprinkler control wire. Either the old one was not suitable, or maybe they broke it -- we don't know. In any case there are now two ugly black wires running up the wall in the garage. One day we will re-run these ourselves to be hidden inside the wall (Jeff detests exposed wiring!).

This tree should be between these invasive windows
where we have put the stake in the ground (morning)
to give us a level of screening when it matures

That's better (afternoon)!

Here, this tree will shade the veggie garden
which we don't want (morning)

Better (afternoon)!

The magnolia arrives

Looks like a perfect fit

Freshly planted

Stepping stones laid around plum

Here are some medium sized plants laid out

Here they are planted

From above

Groundcover to be planted all over

Here comes a cute little forklift and the sod

Vroom, vroom, zip, zip

The yard is starting to look nice and green

Front grass replaced

Grass up to veggie area

From above

Looks a bit like a patchwork quilt

Leftovers sod still stacked on driveway

This pipe on the left is new... what is it?

Oh, a new ugly sprinkler control wire. What's wrong
with the one the builder hid inside the wall?
